TURKEY AND KURDISTAN AT WAR

A serious war is going on between Turkey and Kurdistan in the occupied area of Northern Kurdistan. Kurddish soldiers have the comparative asymmetric advantage of knowing thw moumtain area very well, enabling them to strike fast and hide. Moreover, Kurdish forces are protected and supported by the people in the area. Kurdish soldiers blocked the road between the Semdinli and Derecik districts, aiming to place mines on the road in order to attack Turkish military personnel. An operation was launched right away to block the operations of the Kurdish army.
Partiya Karkeren Kurdistan (PKK), Kurdistan Workers' Party, has been fighting an armed struggle for an autonomous Kurdistan. Northern Kurdistan's area is a third of Turkey. The region forms the south-eastern edge of Anatolia. It is dominated by high peaks rising to over 3,700m and arid mountain plateaux, forming part of the arc of the Taurus Mountains. The occupation of Northern Kurdistan is opposed by all Kurds, and has resulted in a long-running separatist conflict in which fifty thousand lives have been lost.
A remote-controlled explosive blast took place on August 2 in Hakkari, as a Turkish police vehicle was passing on the road. There were many injuries, and the armored police vehicle was damaged. The incident took place at 12:20 a.m. in the Tekser neighborhood, which is on the Hakkari-Van highway. The police vehicle was heading to Depin, which is seven kilometers away from the city center.
Northern Kurdistan saw several major Kurdish rebellions. These were forcefully put down by the Turkish authorities and the region was declared a closed military area. As Syria's crisis deepens, Western Kurdistan occupied by Syria, is now liberated. Syrian Kurdish groups have formed a de facto state in the north of Syria. PKK, with its Syrian branch the Democratic Union Party (PYD), took control of several provinces near Turkey's border. Kurdish flags and posters of Ocalan fly from buildings in northern Syria towns.
Davutoglu threatens the new state of Western Kurdistan: We will not allow the formation of a terrorist structuring near our border. We reserve every right.
No matter if it is al-Qaeda or PKK we would consider it a matter of national security and take every measure.
Erdogan accuses Assad of allowing PKK a free hand in the north of Syria and warned Ankara would not hesitate to strike. Recent developments have come as an unpleasant surprise to Turcokleptocrats.
When Syrian Kurds distanced themselves from the Assad regime, Turkey welcomed this development.
But Ankara did not expect Syrian Kurds would soon unite around PKK.
Turkey has been fighting against the PKK since 1984, and the conflict has so far claimed some fifty thousand lives. PKK has been effectively using its bases in the mountainous region of northern Iraq. With its growing influence and strength in Syria's Kurdish populated regions, PKK has now liberated Western Kurdistan.
The recent developments have sparked stronger demands by Turkish Kurds from Ankara and further increased tension in Nortern Kurdistan, occupied by Turkey.
Turkish MP Baydemir points out the only way ahead is the creation of autonomous Kurdistan regions in Turkey, Syria and Iran, just as the one in Iraq. Now we got the new state of Western Kurdistan. There must be an abolition of borders among the regions of Kurdistan, the creation of a customs union, and a new political partnership with the occupying countries.
For years, Turkey's Kurds are deprived of their basic political and cultural rights. As concerns grow in Turkey about the new state of Western Kurdistan, the Turkish military has stepped up its deployment on the border. The president of Southern Kurdistan, Massud Barzani, cannot be hoodwinked by Erdogan.
Turkey is trying to convince Barzani to betray his people! This is mission impossible.
